Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. A bully isn't just physical abuse. There are 4 types of bullying that are the most common.
1. Physical – hitting, kicking, pinching, punching, scratching, spitting or any other form of physical attack. Damaging or stealing someones belongings can also be considered as physical bullying.
2. Verbal -- name calling, insulting, racist commentary, sexist or homophobic jokes, teasing, remarks, sexual suggestive or abusive language.
3.Indirect – spreading nasty stories about someone, exclusion from social groups, being made the subject of malicious rumors.
4. Cyber Bullying - any type of bullying that is carried out by electronic medium. There are 7 types including: text message, using false pictures of a person, prank or abusive phone calls, e-mail, chat-room, instant messaging, or social websites.
Approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying.
Students most times don't feel secure when they attend school because according NASP 1 in 4 teachers see bullying as students playing and will intervene 4% of the time.

My fire project issue is bullying. Bullying is a form of abuse that happens in school. Bullying is a widespread problem in our communities. A bully is a person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker. “Bullying typically is not categorized with more serious forms of school violence involving weapons, vandalism, or physical harm” (Cohn and Canter, Ph.D., 2007). The reason I chose this fire project issue is because I really don’t like people taking advantage of others for no good reason. I believe that this issue matters a lot because there are many students that suffer because of these abuses that they experience in school. There are many cases that have ended with students ending their life as a result of bullying. I hope to create and implement meetings with young students where they can feel secure and receive high self-esteem from their peers. This issue is important to me because I as a child was bullied by my cousins. It affected me in some way because I am somewhat paranoid. I know that I won't get to solve this problem, but I intend to make people see that a bully has no power over nobody, only to themselves.
