POV #2
Bully's POV
I want to give a bully’s point of view. The reason I chose to give the point of view of a bully is because bullies are not born, they are created by other bullies. Many people take a bully as a horrible person, but a bully is simply another child or teenager that has experienced the same abuse by others. According to Burghart, Brian (2011): “I feel I lived in a culture of bullying and violence. And it started young, with parental corporal punishment a simple fact of life. I was a weirdo from day one, and I think that the other kids (and adults) sensed that I rarely felt at ease.” So through Burghart experience as a child he felt that he was a weird child who was seen by everyone and maybe even laughed at. Burghart was raised in a culture of bullying and violence so maybe he was bullied as a child or he saw many children get bullied and maybe saw that power was his solution for his “weird” character. Burghart (2011) said: “Bullying, from my point of view, is about power…“Less powerful” can mean smaller, shyer, nicer, heavier, weirder, more sensitive, smarter, effeminate or butch—any individual who doesn’t fit into the bully’s unbridled definition of acceptable normality.” So now in the eyes of a bully, bullying is a way to fit in school so you won’t be vulnerable to get bullied. Maybe the life of a bully is to keep on bullying so they won’t return to the way things used to be for them. So if bullies are not born that way, and are created by other bullies like Burghardt's story then how did this chain start?
